In 2020, Valentas Gružauskas, CEO of the Market Trends Valuation Center, defended his dissertation “Resilience of the Supply Chain in the Context of a Sustainable Food Industry” of Kaunas University of Technology. The dissertation was nominated for the competition “Ph.D. thesis award” organized by the Lithuanian Union of Young Scientists (LJMS).

LJMS has been organizing the competition for the Ph.D. thesis awards for the fifteenth year in a row, for which 71 dissertations were submitted in 2021. 39 of them were defended in the fields of natural, technology, medicine and health, and agriculture, the remaining 32 in the social sciences and humanities. 2021 The authoritative Lithuanian research commission, consisting of 204 experts, selected the best dissertations. A total of 10 young researchers have been recognized as laureates. All of them received handwritten letters from the President.

In the dissertation, a computer simulation of urban logistics was performed, during which the quality of food products for delivery to end consumers was simulated by applying different technological approaches. The methodology used in the dissertation can be extended and adapted to analyze not only traditional logistics processes but also their relationship with real estate, e.g. logistics centers.
